Not only did we not wear seat belts, in a family with six kids, one of us had to lay across the back dash near the window. And we still made it home.

Same here. I honestly think it was the best time to grow up in the 60's ( I was born in 1953). The music was incredible, candy bars only cost a nickel, movies were cheap (25 cents for a Saturday matinee showing a Jerry Lewis movie, Disney movie like Pollyanna, and 2 cartoons in between). It was a time when classic TV shows filled the schedule, like The Beverly Hillbillies , Laugh In, Carol Burnett, Star Trek, Twilight Zone, Man From UNCLE, Ed Sullivan, etc. And I still talk about how fruit tasted so much better back then. I can't even eat most of what the grocery store calls fruit and vegetables. Tomatoes, strawberries and watermelon taste like soggy cardboard compared to what we ate in the 60's.
It's become a cliche for people to think the time they grew up in was the best. I've run across people who actually believe 80's music was better than 60's and 70's music because they grew up in that period. But I know for a fact that the late 50's to the early 70's were the best years.
