I was on usenet (NNTP) in those days, everything was self-censored and you wouldn't be able to find the dirt that is on facebook today , let alone child porn. North American usenet was incredible. One report, account deleted across all companies in NA.
Only when I went to try a hong kong and euro server did I get ptsd from what I saw.
Even earlier than that on FTP we always had a bunch that would take out the garbage.
One group HACP (Hackers Against Child Pornography) were amazing, more than one email threat to a CEO went out when an anon found something on a corporate server.
You may disagree with many on the internet, we all come from different perspectives, but if you try, you will find a certain Morality among the overwhelming majority.
