🍔Bad News: The FDA has approved the first GMO cow for human food consumption. The GMO short-haired cow was created using risky genetic engineering technology called CRISPR. Studies show that CRISPR can cause off-target and unpredictable effects on the organism. But industry has managed to lobby its way to de-regulation of CRISPR-created (gene-edited) organisms so there will be no GMO label required. They haven't been safety tested and there is no proof the meat is safe to eat
The short-haired gene is "naturally occurring" which means that there are natural short-haired cows. If short-haired cows already exist, then why are these crazy people genetically engineering cows? Breeding them naturally wouldn't allow the cattle to be patented and they wouldn't be able to pad their profits. There is no need for these GMO cows
NOTE that GMO cows are not allowed in organics, but they will likely be allowed in Grass-Fed, since GMO alfalfa is allowed and CRISPR has been deregulated
