I'm not seeing a date on the editorial, but recognize the ONGOING DEBATE wrt being castigated by the "opposite sex" for what to youthful men has seemed "authentic" behavior, even "doing what comes naturally".

I trust the AUTHOR has grown past the false dichotomy of EITHER:
A.) being bound hand & foot by SOCIETAL DICTATES,
as IF one could EVER be programmable droid, lacking an ETERNAL SOUL,
vs.
B.) seeing NO use for SOCIETAL NORMS, but rather feeling entitled to say & do & take what one pleases... the classic SOCIOPATH, tho educated & sophistocated ones hide they motives early on...

As a female coming "of age in the 1970's", my impression WAS that most males WERE more SOCIOPATHIC than not & as Juliet observes in "R & J", "@ lovers' vows, Jove LAUGHS...".

WOMEN should be known as "OTHER",❌ "OPPOSITE" gender. SOME joke wrt WAR btwn the SEXES", but ITS PATHETIC & ➡️to💔.
BECOMING people of INTEGRITY means giving⬆️ "I win" STANCE to be emotionally available, to hear,👁❤
