History is long in time. Most of us came from a different place centuries ago, however we can only go so far back.

My own family name for instance, comes originally from north east Germany although the surnames have been changed along the way. I know for a fact that my father's ancestors came from Normandy in 1075. a century later, a branch of the family went to Ireland. Some went to America in the 1600's. My own ancestor on my father's side went to Australia amongst the first settlers to South Australia in 1839/40.

On my mother's side, her paternal ancestor came from Wales, he married a German woman, her parents had emigrated from Germany at different times around the 1850's. I found the ships they travelled on, my geat great grandmother had a cabin on barque Helene, she came from Luben, Prussia. My great great grandfather arrived in 1848, he was from Saxony. I even found their birth records.

We are all very much connected.
