I think it's very similar to how you access a downloaded Facebook account, it basically creates all the files so you can browse them locally on your computer as if you were on the website itself. With that said, here's some instructions I found (with pictures) on how you can access your twitter data. I was going to do the same thing, but I wasn't willing to wait for them to contact me after I requested the archive. I hope this helps
