YouTube has officially hidden the thumbs-down counter on all videos citing âdislike attacksâ the company said were targeting small channels.
Matt Koval, YouTubeâs creator liaison, said people engaged in such coordinated attacks were doing so âbecause they donât like the creator or what they stand for,â before adding âItâs much less likely to cause stress and embarrassment if the count isnât visible to the public.â
Critics have pointed out the White House has much to gain from the new policy, as live-streamed speeches from officials often swing to the negative in the like/dislike ratio.
