This handsome,
formerly very popular & atheletic young man,
had written on his chart, as the
"REASON for PSYCHIATRIC CONSULTATION":
"ANGER ISSUES: uncooperative w/ care.
throws his full urinal @ nurses. Calls them swear words."
The hospital was a rehab facility in MI, w/ no privacy, just curtains between patient litters. HARD to get straight answers in that setting, but this barely-out-of-his-teens minority male was BLUNT: He knew he was @ risk of getting "chemical restraints" on TOP of WHAT he CAME to be rehabbed for. (Nothing wrong w/ his hearing WHAT nurses SAID wrt HIM.)

PHYSICIANS' raison d'etre is to BENEFIT their PATIENTS; these days AGENCIES hire/coerce them to DO OTHERWISE.

Long story short: He spoke frankly. I honored that. I made his "Individualized Treatment Plan" 🎯 ing: BEHAVIORS that'd➡️ADMINISTRATIVE DC (bad), negotiate RESPECT terms w/staff:
INTENSE ANGER/IRRITABILITY:
GUILT, GRIEF:
NEED for INFO.
RIGHT 2 REFUSE, but small dose MED titrations.
