A few weeks back, my wife had to have surgery, and durring the prep they asked us to sign a paper allowing them to give her blood should the need arise. standard protocol, I get it. However, our response was, “Can you give her blood from an unvaccinated donor?” The nurse’s response, “That is the first time I’ve been asked that. And, as far as I know we dont test the blood for that.” So if a loved one is going in for surgery & you have the time, plan ahead and coordinate with the hospital to have a viable unvaxxed donor donate blood to be used in the event that your loved one needs blood during the procedure. That is of course only if it matters to you & the person undergoing surgery.
