The research was carried out by researchers from the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal). They examined the duration of innate immunity to coronavirus after the disease, as well as the role of existing antibodies to similar coronaviruses. The study involved 578 healthcare professionals who showed a strong response to the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein.
Study co-author Gemma Moncunill reported that the researchers noted an increase in coronavirus IgG antibodies in 75% of the people studied from the fifth month after the infection, without additional exposure to the virus. As a result, the body is able to work with antibodies and gradually develops a stronger and stronger immune response.
