It isn't a matter of intensity, it is a matter of wavelength. Some light cannot penetrate. Warmth as a light (infrared) can penetrate. Microwaves can penetrate. The wavelengths we see are incapable of penetrating opaque matter. Just outside of visible light is ultraviolet, which can penetrate slightly. That's why it causes skin cancer: it destroys biological matter by ionizing it. - Gabriel Balensiefer
