Not to take anything away from Robert Plant, but I believe the true meaning was not to be revealed until right now, no matter who the ultimate author of the lyrics was...

Yeah maybe. They really didn't capture it as intended I think. But the guitar solo and renaissance style was nice.

Was referring to Led Zeppelin.
Robert Plant, hmm, yeah him. There was only ever one song of his I really liked, really very much liked and that was In The Mood. Had he went with this feeling for Stairway, there was the connection after a decade. The guitar solo and the renaissance feel could have blended soo much better. But, meh. There's always another go at it. There's always another song on the horizon.
If you listen to In The Mood, there's the real trace of Stairway, some of the chords are even echoing it.
