"It's only for a few weeks," they said.
But those weeks turned into months.
And those months become years.
"You do it for the other" they said.
But tell me, who are you doing it for?
For the entrepreneur who goes bankrupt?
For the old man locked up in the nursing home?
For the child who is not allowed to go to school?
For the old woman with war trauma, who faces another curfew?
For the boy who was so stressed by the measures that he went on drugs and died of an overdose?
For the young woman who just got fired?
For the girl who committed suicide?
For the lady with COPD, who gets severe shortness of breath from the mouth mask, but wears it anyway for fear of misunderstanding?
For the young people who are not allowed to explore, are not allowed to discover boundaries and really just are not allowed to be young?
For the deaf adolescent who can no longer communicate fully with all those mouth masks?
No, I understand.
You do it for the vulnerable elderly.
So that they don't

So that in the last few years they can still enjoy everything that life has to offer.
From the closed shops.
From the craft club that is canceled.
Of the grandchildren who no longer visit.
From loneliness.
From the depression.
From the quarantine.
From the isolation.
To eventually die lonely, but at least not from that monster flu.
But hey, what exactly is that effort?
It's just a few rules.
It's only five feet.
They are just mouth caps.
It's just a day out.
It's just quarantine.
It's just a cotton swab.
It's just isolation.
It's just a lockdown.
It's just shops.
It's just affection.
It's just a restaurant.
They're just friends.
It's just vacation.
It's just social contact.
It's just the holidays.
It's just a hug.
They are just companies.
It's just the economy.
It's just a vaccination passport.
It's just daycare.
It's just a school.
It's just a curfew.
It is just...
It is "only" our freedom ...
So that in the last few years they can still enjoy everything that life has to offer.
