We did this! We had a house built in 2014 in a newer community. Though we preferred to be more remote, we thought this would be our permanent home. In 2019, crime from the nearby city started spoiling our community. My car was vandalized, so we decided to sell our beautiful house & used the profits to pay cash for a fixer-upper in the country. It's a small mobile home, but we've had fun renovating it & making it look brand new. A big plus is we live mortgage free. Next step is to buy a piece of land of our own to move it to & eventually we will have a log cabin built. We'll have a big garden & a few animals. We loved our big house, but we have less to stress about now.
