Income Tax Was Ruled Unconstitutional — Now It Hits Every American

U.S. history shows there was no permanent income tax until after the Civil War, and when leaders tried to impose a peacetime income tax, it was ruled unconstitutional. The 16th Amendment under Woodrow Wilson was sold as a limited tax targeting only the top 1% of ultra-wealthy elites, while corporate and inheritance taxes were also designed to hit robber barons — not everyday Americans. Today, that system has been expanded to burden working families nationwide, turning a tax meant for elites into a tax on everyone, fueling growing calls to abolish the income tax and return to a fairer system.
