BREAKING: President Trump is considering a federal cap on state fuel taxes to provide relief at the pump. He highlighted California's high prices — currently the nation's second-highest at ~$4.26/gallon (behind only Hawaii) — and suggested the move could bring costs down significantly, potentially to around $2.50 in the state.

Fox News: “Part of the reason California’s gas prices are so high is the taxes… California levies the highest tax on gasoline in the nation, around $0.71 per gallon, more than double the national average for gas taxes.”
