I just found some interesting information about The Little Danes Experiment in regard to Denmark and Greenland:
The Little Danes experiment: In 1951, Denmark took 22 Inuit children from Greenland, ages 5-9, promised their parents one year of education. It was a lie. It was an experiment to erase their identity. Most never came home. On the ship to Denmark, speaking Greenlandic was forbidden. Their names were changed, placed in orphanages, beaten for their language, abused. After one year, Denmark broke its promise. Only 6 returned, but they'd forgotten Greenlandic and could not speak to their mothers. The other 16 were kept in Denmark forever.
Denmark denied this for 47 years.
