There is a precedent for him to be held responsible!
Former Illinois Governor George Ryan was held liable for a bribery scheme that resulted in unqualified drivers obtaining commercial driver's licenses (CDLs). As part of the "Operation Safe Road" investigation, Ryan was convicted of racketeering, mail fraud, and other charges, leading to his 78-month prison sentence.
The investigation focused on a bribery scheme that allowed unqualified truckers to get CDLs through illegal means.
This corruption scandal also led to the convictions of several of Ryan's top aides and associates.
George Ryan was sentenced to 78 months in prison and ordered to pay over
