Thursday musing: What if the Liberals/Carney aren't talking to PDJT about a trade deal or directly to their counterparts in China about tariffs on Canadian goods because we're the 51st state?
I checked to see if states can make trade deals with other countries: "U.S. states can engage in discussions with foreign countries regarding trade, but they cannot enter into binding agreements or treaties without federal oversight. Governors and state officials can meet with foreign leaders, promote their state's economic interests, and negotiate with private companies to attract investment or support trade initiatives."
THIS is what Carney is doing!! And any tariffs placed on Canada by China (or any other country) wouldn't be handled by a Canadian official, it would be handled in DC
