Repressed within me a mystery dark
Untold treasures cast in the night
Like moonlight shadows overwhelmingly stark
Emotional notions overlooked in the light

Eye in the dark of light have not yet fully seen
What in the light of darkness I love to dread
That which is me

If darkness be the absence of light
How then is light not the absence of dark
Does not light expose the dark
And are they not twain in the same space

Even the light of day heckles the darkness of night
Always a step ahead and a step apart
Day upon night upon day
A perpetual balance whose only intent is to be as it is
In motion

As I reflect on my shadow
It remains ever silent
Knowing only it is nothing
Without the light
