So frickin cool!
Ever seen one of these?
"Kobe charms": The charms got their name from the Japanese port city of Kobe, where they were produced. They were initially sold as inexpensive souvenirs to tourists and sailors from around the 1870s to the 1920s.

Marketed to American businesses: In the late 1920s and early 1930s, American companies began buying the charms from Japanese factories to use as advertising memorabilia or promotional prizes.

Cracker Jack prizes: The charms were famously used as prizes in Cracker Jack boxes, though some sellers note that they were also distributed as gumball machine prizes and other giveaways.
