Israel in the Bible is not Israel in the world. Israel represents a certain spiritual mentality of the ancient people. The government of Israel has nothing to do with the meaning in the Bible. Everything in the Bible is about Jesus Christ and each person reading the scriprures. It is intended to have people look into themselves and compare their behavior to what God expects of people.
