Senate Confirms 48 Trump Appointees After New Rules Change❗❗❗
The Republican-controlled Senate confirmed 48 of President Trump’s appointees in one swoop on Thursday, capitalizing on a new rules change that allows multiple nominees to be voted on simultaneously. GOP senators had accused Democrats of slowing the process to a crawl on individual cases.
‘There Will Be More to Come’: The 48 nominees were approved in a 51-47 vote. “Republicans have fixed a broken process and restored the Senate precedent that applied to previous presidents – and that is allowing … a majority of a president’s nominees to be confirmed expeditiously,” said Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) on the upper chamber floor. “Today is the first slate of nominees. There will be more to come,” he added. “And we’ll ensure that President Trump’s administration is filled at a pace that looks more like those of his predecessors.”
