I know many, almost all of my direct family did for work or "protection".
Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter have been at my house for 20+ years, large groups, I enjoyed them without many. My kids and spouses stayed with me but went to parties without me.

I got in a loud verbal battle walking my dog....I have known this woman for so long...." She said if u are not vaccinated u are not welcome here"..."I said wait a minute I am at risk not u....u have been vaccinated, and the government said u are A-Ok"....she got so pissed off she had no come back....and just to be shitty I stayed the entire time she was there..... Needless to say, I do not have any more dog walking partners....Teehee
