I agree with you, if you go off just the words Artificial Intelligence, I believe it has been around for a very long time. However if you mean Quantum AI with our computers, our computers, not very long. However with other beings computers, it must be in much better order than our computers. Or at the least we can hope so!

Look up The Terminal Man on WP. It is a Michael Crichton novel from 1972. He has some very good books.
