August's Rare Black Moon Offers a Special Stargazing Moment
On August 22 and 23, a seasonal Black Moon will occur, a rare event that describes the third New Moon in an astronomical season of four (instead of the usual three). While you can't see the actual moon, the dark sky conditions it produces are an ideal time for stargazing.
