Hope, Get some real estate listings through a relator or on Zillow for homes in your area that are almost identical and about the same money for your home (homes for sale).
Setup a meeting through your Town hall (local government). With whomever deals with the assessor and taxes in your neighborhood.
If you can show your home is not worth the amount of taxes they want from you. You can get it lowered.
Ask questions and research.

Been going on for a long time.
Hence what happened with our house. Taxes went up and I did not keep up with what I just mentioned to you. I did this one time and it worked. Now we live basically in a 15 minute city area.
I hope it works out for you. Selling is another ordeal. Basically all governments want a piece of your pie. I'm sure you have seen that in the Real Estate business.
