A naturalized American is a person who was born in another country but has become a U.S. citizen through the legal process of naturalization.

This typically involves meeting residency requirements, passing a citizenship test, demonstrating proficiency in English, and taking an oath of allegiance to the United States.

Once naturalized, they have most of the same rights and responsibilities as native-born U.S. citizens, such as voting and holding public office, though they cannot become president or vice president.
