During the two-week period ending on June 7, NB.1.8.1 accounted for 37% of cases in the U.S., according to the latest data from the U.S. Centers of Disease Control and Prevention. The agency noted that the precision in its reporting is "low" due to a decrease in cases being reported, but many experts have predicted cases driven by the new variant would increase.
