Politicians are scumbags. They are the lowest form of human existence and provide no value to society.

I have thought many times, that picking political positions should be done like juries, at random by computer.

You declare your party and you go into that pool for selection.

The system picks, based on how many declare for a political party in the area, a name at random.

The selectees undergo a years training, then start the job for 4 years, the last year, they train their successor.

They are paid well for the position, but, when they leave after 4 years, they go back to being just normal folk - no benefits, no lifetime anything.

Their employers must keep their jobs for them, and employ temporary people to cover for the 4 years, they must not burden existing staff with covering for the absent employee - who cannot be penalized for being selected.

Would be interesting to see how a system like that would work. It would remove the prepondrance of attention seekers, easily corrupted, and narcissists from being picked I think.

I would never choose a party on consent to any authority

It would be governance by those who are not lifetime politicians, bureaucrats or lobbyists lapdogs.

Local governance could be run in a similar way... because, those that WANT to rule, should never be allowed to to the job.

Selecting like a jury. Real people doing the job, not those with visions of grandure.

I understand but no man should ever have authority over another

Its more organizing to ensure the community needs are met - roads, sewers, fire service, police, prisons, water... etc, ensuring the mkney paid goes where it should go, not ruling... at least that is what it should be.

How would you manage to keep those things operational without any governance?

People should protect themselves and their community. Nobody should depend on government for anything, certainly not protection. The government is everybody's biggest enemy.

It has been turned into that, by generations of selecting the same type of folk.

To employ a private company is a good idea - but who does the selection process? Who researches the best company? Who makes sure they do it right? Who prosecutes them when they do not? Who gathers and holds the money raised to do the work?

As an example, the road we live on is owned by the 9 residents. We are at the end.

It is starting to deteriorate, and eventually will become difficult to drive, especially when it rains.

It costs about 70k to surface a 1/4mile, so about 7+k per house.

Someone needs to coordinate getting street agreement, the funds, putting it in a community bank account, then researching the best company, contracting them, overseeing the project, then the inspection.

Or we hire an engineer to do the research, and manage the project, so 70k just became 85k.

If one residents refuses to pay, the others must foot the bill for them, yet they get full use of the facility for nothing.

That is ok. Nobody should ever be forced to do anything. I would prefer no roads to having to endure the huge negative value of government. You are not entitled to a road. If you want it, pay for it.

Indeed no one is entitled - how would you deal with people using a facility, and not paying for its upkeep?

All 9 households use the road. The ones that would refuse to contribute, use it more than anyone else, therefore, cause more wear and tear to the road.

At some point the road will become too hard to for anyone to use, deep potholes, thick mud, flooding.

Having an outside party (some form of org that oversees the process) prevents neighbors from becoming enemies, and going to war with each other.

Being realistic about human interactions has to be a factor.

I think it is not important if one house uses road and did not contribute. If it is a gym or private building, they would not use it. Public infrastructure has to be UNCONDITIONAL donations.

And, 2, then 3 people will stop contributing, because they see one using the facility for free, with no consequense, they won't care if the other neighbors stop talking to them, they are getting what they want.

I was meaning if you want to go to the gym, not that a private road is used by a gym.

Businesses have the same kinds of costs as private neighborhoods, because the public space begins where their owned property ends -who tends those public spaces?

If paying for them is voluntary, no one will pay, and public spaces will revert to nature. Weeds, pot holes, broken utilities, no signs, etc.

I am for local gov. more focused, not controlled by anyone but those paying for the service.

Prior to the industrial revolution, people paid tolls to use the roads maintained by others, just as they paid specific fire stations for protection, if they did not, their buildings burned.

My original position is, that the selection process must change, or, we will just keep riding that carousel.

Government has always been 100% bad since it was created in Babylon

Maybe it's the way it is selected that makes it bad... maybe it is peoples need to abdicate responsibility that makes it bad...

The concept of a non interested party organizing to ensure work gets done in a community, and then everyone that uses the facility contributes, is not, in and of itself a bad idea, But I think it's implementation needs to be changed, that should be the focus going forward.
