They came from all around the world to worship God freely, live by his laws, live by a set of high moral standards, and raise a lot of children, raise herds of animals, and farm to provide for themselves and their offspring, building homes and storehouses, barns, with the help of other men having barn raisings, building houses together, and volunteering to help one another. It is right out of the Bible. Own their own land! No taxes! The Amish and Mennonites still carry on these practices.
