It's not often that a high school athlete captures the hearts of legions of supporters across the country. It's even less often when that high school athlete does it by cracking an opponent over the head with a relay baton, but that's what happened this week in Virginia.

It's illegal to interfere with a relay runner by striking the athlete, so the violator should be disqualified and suspended for Unsportsmanlike Conduct.
