High cholesterol does not cause heart attacks or strokes, but if the problem is inside the blood vessels causing a build up of cholesterol it is probablly due to free radicals causing damage to the inner layer of blood vessels. Cholesterol is actually designed to protect cells, and it rushes to any injury spot in the blood container to repair the tear. Keep putting more free radicals in your system and the choleterol comes again and trys to smooth it over, creating a blockage over time because you never addressed what was causing the damage in the first place. Free radicals like fluoride tear vessels. Why doen't your doctor address this problem? I think you know the answer.
