At 20 km from our house lies one of the oldest sandstone quarries of Western Europe. This quarry has been in use for more than 1000 years. Churches and castles throughout Western Europe are built with this sandstone ... Bentheimer sandstone. On the other photo you see the famous 800 year old castle in Bad Bentheim.
