Today's Gospel: Lc. 19, 45-48
Jesus at the Temple
45 When Jesus entered the temple courts, he began to drive out those who were selling. 46 “It is written,” he said to them, “‘My house will be a house of prayer; but you have made it ‘a den of robbers.’
47 Every day he was teaching at the temple. But the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the leaders among the people were trying to kill him. 48 Yet they could not find any way to do it, because all the people hung on his words.
The church belongs to Christ, it is not my property. But it has been given to me to give me salvation, to help me on the way to heaven and to accompany me. When Jesus drives out the merchants, he cleanses and heals his church from everything that is not directed toward God alone, but toward himself. This purification of intentions and motivations is sometimes also needed in my heart so that it can be a true dwelling place of God.
Jesus, in every confession, purify me. Amen
