In fact, high total cholesterol has been associated with longevity in very elderly individuals.

Guidelines and Recommendations
For adults 65 years and older, the recommended total cholesterol levels are:
Below 200 mg/dL (milligrams per deciliter) [4]
Below 240 mg/dL for those 80 years old and older, as higher levels may be beneficial [1]
