While I agree 100% with the premise trying to be made here, this is a terrible comparison to make the point. Chicago gun violence is nearly all gang related while Maine has no perceptible gang problem by comparison. Open carry gun laws in Illinois would reduce the gun crimes against regular citizens but the gangs would still be killing each other at the same rate or greater. Law and order are required in conjunction with 2nd amendment rights for a true reduction in gun violence.
