I live in the east of the Netherlands and this is the oldest area of the country. There has been habitation here for over 7000 years. You can still see traces of this in everything in the landscape. Watermills that are over 300 years old were used for the production of paper. There are also many burial mounds and even a so-called Hunebed (bed of the Huns) from 6000 years ago. People were buried under massive large and heavy stones, sometimes weighing 50 tons. In the photo you can see what that looked like.
