There’s a scene in one of my favorite movies (Shawshank Redemption) where Morgan Freeman’s character is up for parole consideration.
And year after year, he says everything he thinks the committee wants to hear.
‘Yes, I’m sorry. Yes, I wish I hadn’t done it. I’ve changed. I’ve really really changed (and I even think he believes it).
But after years of anxiously waiting and wanting, he finally just doesn’t GAF anymore. So for the first time he’s completely honest with himself.
That is,
he doesn’t care whether or not the thing that he so long desired, even happens anymore
Because it’s all fugazzi, made up. And so he tells them straight to their face, do whatever whenever, cause I know the truth, it’s BS. Everything is BS. Your big words, scientific psychological mumbo jumbo, it’s all BS.
Then, when the committee no longer has any power over him (because THE TRUTH has set him free), that’s when the parole board sets him free.🤯
