Forcing young children to sit attentively quiet for long periods of time is not healthy for them, nor does it produce a viable learning environment. There is importance in children learning how to sit quietly for a period of time, but with limited attention spans, these times need to be intermingled with active learning experiences. IMO the approach to the first year's of education need to incorporate more hands on, active learning experiences. 😇

It's just a bad model overall. We can't expect 5 year olds to sit for 8 hours a day. They should first just be playing and learn through that.
