SEEKING ADVICE

My mom was diagnosed w/ breast cancer (invasive lobular carcinoma) in June, she's used alternative treatments for past 2 months (Soursop tea, apricot kernels, & a mushroom extract). She had an MRI on Monday; we got a copy. The radiologist report states, "There is enhancing architectural distortion with signal void corresponding to the site of biopsy-proven malignancy at the 10:00 position middle depth extending slightly below the nipple as well as into the central and upper central right breast measuring 5.6 cm x 4.3 cm x 3.7 cm (AP x CC x TV) with associated nipple retraction."

Her surgeon called w/ MRI results & repeated info from above & asked if we had questions. I said "The report says the tissue is distorted yet previously it was referred to as a mass. I couldn't identify any "mass" in the images. Which is it, distorted tissue or a solid mass?" HIs response "What does it matter?"

During the biopsy back in June the surgeon had difficulty getting a sample from the mass and took 4 attempts. I was hoping that was because the mass has shrunk after 2 weeks alternatives, making it difficult to pierce.

I was praying the MRI would show definitively that the "mass" had shrunk or disappeared. Unfortunately, the MRI reported the cancer was larger than the previous mammogram had shown. UGH yet I couldn't see anything obvious on the images.
