A few months back I was a first responder on a field fire and had nothing but a painting tarp in my truck. I twisted it up and started beating the ground at the flames which put it out right away in no time at all I was able to take out about half of the fire before the fire trucks got there.
Smothering a fire is an effective way of putting one out without water.

For a large fire I would convert a snowmobile with a front roller with tracks that would flex across the ground smothering anything in its path but trees obviously 😋
The rear truck would also assist in smothering the flame. The tracks can be made of material resistant to heat and flames. If you ever watched snowmobiles and the terrain they can go through, this would be an excellent vehicle to assist with firefighting.

Unfortunately it seems they just let these fires get out of hand or maybe nobody ever just thought of this 🤔
