In May 2008, archaeologists from the University of Bristol made a sensational discovery dating back to the 12th century while excavating the grounds of Gayar Castle in France. A bicycle was found at a depth of 2 meters, but it is very strange.
It strongly resembles modern bicycles, but is somewhat more crudely built. It is armored, the handles are made from sword hilts, and the wheels have horse hair instead of tires.
According to known history, the wheel was invented in 1818.
