"Environmental activists celebrated closure of key NYS nuclear power facility, but state’s power-sector emissions have INCREASED since the plant shuttered.
State officials closed Indian Point nuclear facility in 2021, a move climate activist groups commended because of purported safety & environmental risks posed by it. However, 3 years after the plant shuttered, NY has seen a sharp increase in greenhouse gas emissions attributable to power generation, due in large part to increased reliance on natural gas to make up for the closed plant’s output.

Cracks me up that people want to grumble about how the fuel sources are the problem - until they aren't. Of course those grumbles come from the idiots who don't understand what they call fossil fuel is a renewable fuel and there is such a thing as clean burning coal.
