The sun is not "causing" the eclipse
it’s the MOON that is blocking the sun's view as the lunar orbit is retrograde and not geosynchronous in relationship to the opposing stellar orbit as it moves across the earth's field of view -
but that's okay orbital geometry can be a bit challenging ...I'm sure you are talented at other things 😘
