Fell in to the #Radium rabbit hole today through our local newspaper archives. Searched from 1871-1940 and was overwhelmed with results. Amazing! Uranium is the mother of Radium. This stuff was 100x more expensive than gold! Radium has the power of continually generating heat without drawing upon any external source of energy. Majority of articles talked about curing Cancer, because of our massive medical university here. Around 1928, the synthetic Radium was brought in and the fear porn on real Radium was in full swing. One wild characteristic is there's an actual transmutation of metals, one element becoming another in the process continually going on in Radium. They were making precious gems from this stuff!
