Unfortunately, more money spent on food means less funding for other life-saving programs for the pets in their care. Last year, according to the National Retail Federation, football viewers spent about $115 per person on food, beverages, and other items for the big game. During this year's Shelter Bowl, that amount could deliver more than 2,000 meals to shelter pets in need.
