Interesting, I was talking to a tenant about a submarine that could travel through the water as fast as a jet. I told him if I were to build it I would make a double hull with the outer shell having millions of small holes in it that would allow air bubbles to escape creating a slipstream for the submarine. The pressurized hull would get its oxygen from the water by running it through the engines creating a steam or electrolysis creating hydrogen. The submarine would be propelled by ajet engine or turboprop. Took me all about a minute to figure it out.
Just now all the sudden I see this article and I wonder how long it took them to figure it out?

The US Navy is working on a radical new submarine that will slice through the ocean so fast that, even before you are halfway through watching 'Oppenheimer..
Last month, Lockheed Martin and NASA jointly revealed the X-59 experimental aircraft, which is expected to fly at 1.4 times the speed of sound (925mph)

Can you imagine how many marine animals will die daily?

Yes I thought about that, would not want to be in that thing when it hit a whale

Or even a sardine would be deadly.

Actually sardines will not hurt a submarine as they're not built like an airplane. My nephew was in the Navy and worked on submarines. When they practice preaching the sub comes up very fast and pops out of the water. There was an incident a while back out in the Pacific where they were doing their exercise and unfortunately there was a midsize fishing boat that was in the area. When one of the subs breached it split that boat in half they barely felt a little bump. The hull is made extremely strong to be able to withstand pressures from extreme depths of the ocean so impacting soft tissue would not affect the sub. Not sure about Wales but I'm sure if the nose was pointed sharp enough it would slice through it like butter

Yes, but the only difference would be if the sub was traveling at 900+ mph and breaking the sound barrier. Imagine what would happen then.
I don't know, its sounds dangerous.
