DEVELOPING! Typhoon Mawar is forecast to slam into the US territory of Guam, home to 170,000 American citizens as a devastating Category 4 storm.

If the storm makes landfall as a Super Typhoon (150 mph winds), it could become one of the top 10 strongest landfalling storms on American soil.

The storm is expected to strike Guam ~24 hours from now.

As Super Typhoon Mawar approaches Guam, residents are stockpiling supplies, battened down windows, and abandoned wood and tin homes for emergency shelters. The US military has sent away ships, and Guam Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero has ordered residents of coastal, low-lying, and flood-prone areas of the territory of over 150,000 people to evacuate to higher elevations.0 Naval Base Guam is home to Commander Submarine Squadron 15, Coast Guard Sector Guam, and Naval Special Warfare Unit One, and supports 28 other tenant commands. It is the home base to dozens of Pacific Command, Pacific Fleet, Seventh Fleet, and Seabee units. USS Frank Cable is stationed in Guam to tend the submarines of the Seventh Fleet, and USS Emory S. Land changed from Naval Support Facility Diego Garcia to Naval Base Guam to fulfill the same role.
