I think we have an obligation to fight satan every step of the way, Shewie.
1) Just because.
2) We may not be where we think we are on the timeline.
3) We may not be correctly interpreting prophesy.
4) The prophesies might be false (unpopular but it needs to be considered) or have been edited to make us think satan's plan is impossible for human's to change.
5) To help save as many people as possible and to relieve as much suffering as possible during the Tribulation.
6) God told us for a reason and I doubt it was so we would sit around eating popcorn watching people die.
